Get Buffed vs 60 Second Tan Remover - Which One Do You Need?

If there's one thing that separates a good stage tan from a great one, it's what you did to your skin in the weeks and months before show day. And the two products that do the most work in that process are Get Buffed and the 60 Second Tan Remover.

Both are exfoliators. Both can technically be used for similar purposes. But we recommend them differently — and understanding why will help you get a lot more out of both.

Get Buffed

Get Buffed is your pre-tan skin prep product. It's formulated with natural exfoliators, plant extracts and vitamins specifically designed to maximise your tan results — when used consistently in the lead-up to your show it helps your competition tan go on more evenly, develop darker, and last longer.

Used alongside the Deluxe Exfoliating Mitt, Get Buffed goes significantly further per use — the mitt helps work the product into the skin more effectively and makes each tube last a lot longer too.

Pro Tan Get Buffed (273ml)
£12.00

The most important step in your tan prep that most people skip or rush — and it shows on stage.

Get Buffed is a pH-balanced pre-tan exfoliating scrub that removes dead skin so your competition tan goes on evenly, develops darker, and lasts longer.

Used regularly through prep and daily in show week (gently — no harsh scrubbing close to show day), it makes a measurable difference to how your tan looks under stage lighting.

Use with the Deluxe Exfoliating Mitt to get more out of every application and make the product last significantly longer.

A perfect tan begins with the perfect skin prep. Get Buffed is formulated with natural exfoliators, plant extracts and vitamins that are exclusively designed to maximize and enhance your sunless tanning results while helping to balance out your skin’s pH level. When used prior to the initial application of pro-tan in particular, Get Buffed assures a deeper, darker, and longer-lasting tan.

60 Second Tan Remover

The 60 Second Tan Remover is what we recommend post-show for breaking down competition tan. It's designed to work quickly without you having to scrub aggressively — which matters, because your skin is more sensitive than usual during prep and going too hard will leave you patchier, not cleaner.

It can also be used as a regular exfoliator during prep in place of Get Buffed if needed — the two products can be crossed over depending on what you have to hand. → Shop 60 Second Tan Remover

If you compete regularly, you need this in your kit.

Whether you're removing tan before your first coat goes on, stripping everything back after a show before you head back to work, or getting rid of a layer from a photoshoot that happened a little too close to show day — this is the product that actually does it. Apply, wait 60 seconds, jump in the shower with an exfoliating glove, and it's gone.

It's also genuinely useful beyond the bathroom. Spilled DIY tan on a hotel room desk the night before a show? Apply directly to the surface and it lifts straight off. Ask us how we know.

How to use:

  1. Apply generously over all areas where you need tan removed.

  2. Leave to soak into the skin for 60 seconds — no scrubbing needed at this stage.

  3. Jump in the bath or shower and use an exfoliating mitt to gently buff away the old tan — leaving skin soft, smooth, and ready for your next application.

Also need an exfoliating product? Our Get Buffed is what we recommend for day-to-day exfoliation during prep — used regularly in the weeks before your show, it keeps skin smooth and helps your competition tan apply evenly.

Which size is right for you?

  • 100ml — ideal for travel or if you're trying it for the first time.

  • 200ml — a solid mid-season choice if you compete a few times a year.

  • 440ml — the best value if you're competing regularly or using it throughout prep.

Important — please read before use

This is a strong formula designed to remove competition-grade tan. Always patch test on a small area before first use, particularly if you have sensitive skin or are mid-prep. Avoid using on the face, and take care around delicate areas such as the collarbone. Read the full instructions before applying.

Ingredients: Aqua, Urea, Perlite, Cocamide DEA, Triethanolamine, Carbomer, C9-11 Pareth-6, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, DMDM Hydantoin, Parfum, Limonene.

Made in the UK. Vegan-friendly and cruelty-free.

When should I start skin prep?

As early as possible. Seriously — you cannot start too early. Even if your show is months away, starting now means better skin, a better tan, and one less thing to stress about the closer you get to show day. The tanners can tell who has looked after their skin consistently and who hasn't.

Here's a rough frequency guide to work from:

  • 12 weeks out — 2x a week

  • 8 weeks out — 3x a week

  • 4 weeks out — 4x a week

  • Show week — keep exfoliation gentle only. Your skin is at its most sensitive and you don't want to irritate it before tan application

The above is a guide, not a rule. Everyone's skin is different — some people can exfoliate more frequently, some less. Starting early gives you time to figure out what works for your skin before you're up against it.

Don't forget to moisturise

Every time you exfoliate — moisturise after. Every single time. Exfoliation without moisturising will dry your skin out, and dry skin is the enemy of a flawless tan. Keep hydration high throughout prep and especially in the days leading up to your show.
