Competition Jewellery: Everything You Need To Know FAQ

Selecting the right jewellery is the best way to make those final touches to create the “overall package” that the judges want to see! When it comes to jewellery, there’s probably a little more to it than you think!! So we’ve put together our top tips for everything you need to know before you make your decision for your show!

The most important measurement to know, the neck! Did you know that all of our earrings have the length measurement in the description? The maximum length of earring should sit just above your neck or higher! This is because if your earrings are too long, you will be hiding your upper body and top line, which most of the time, if not all the time, you want to be showing off!!

To find the perfect length for you take a measurement of your ear lobe to your neck, and choose an earring no longer than that!

Practise your routine while wearing your jewellery! Everything can feel different when you are hair flicking with earrings! Especially for you figure or NPC fitness competitors where your 60 second routine can be very intense! Make sure you practice and get used to posing in your jewellery so you’re truly ready to rock that stage!

How many of each jewellery? Stage jewellery should add to your overall look, but should never been so over the top that it drowns out your physique, you don’t want to be a sparkly mess who distracts from the rest of her look!! As a minimum you are going to want to have at least one pair of earrings, one bracelet and one ring!

Does my hair make a difference? If you have long hair you can pretty much get away with most jewellery styles. With long hair long sparkling earrings can look perfect with flowing hair flicks! On the other hand if you have short hair you may want to consider choosing slightly shorter earrings to ensure they don’t swamp your facial features and overall look. You don’t want the earrings to overpower your hair.

If you are short and petite… you may want to consider smaller jewellery in terms of bracelets etc. A super wide bracelet will drown someone very petite, whereas on someone taller it will look good and anything smaller may look a bit lost on a taller frame! The only exception to this would be if you’re a petite wellness girl where choosing thicker pieces of jewellery might enhance your overall look in this category.

Can I wear hoop earrings? There’s no definite no to this question but it isn’t really seen and so our recommendation would be to not wear hoop earrings. You want your look to be super flowy and elegant and hoop earrings just don’t typically bring that vibe!

Federation Styles and Competition Jewellery

No federation typically has limitations or requirements in relation to what competition jewellery you have. However, there are slight trends and styles that can be found depending on the type of federation.

Bodybuilding Style Federations:

Examples: PCA, UKUP, UKBFF, 2 Bros Pro, GPO, GBO, NPC, IFBB, IFBB Elite, Muscle Contest Ireland, RIBBF etc

Less is more, judged more on your physique than the 'overall package'. We would advise selecting more minimalist, bold striking pieces of jewellery.

Fitness Model & Fashion Style Federations:

Examples: Pure Elite, GBO Diva, Bodypower Model Search, Next Fitness Model, Fitness Model Comps, WBFMA, Miami Pro, WBFF, Glifting Girls

This is usually when you see more creative and extravagant choices when it comes to competition jewellery and the overall package due to these federations allowing more expression of personality and style. However, with this being said, you can still stay understated like above, what's most important is what you feel your best in and what look you want to bring to the stage.

AB OR SILVER JEWELLERY!?

You may have seen an AB option with your bikini but did you know we also stock AB jewellery to match?

AB is a different type of coloured crystal, which catches the light more than silver and gives off a shimmer. If you have a stage bikini which is mainly AB crystals, having the AB jewellery is a gorgeous way to match it and complete the look! AB typically suits all hair types too! KEY ADVICE FOR ANY BIKINI, WELLNESS, FIGURE, PHYSIQUE OR FITNESS COMPETITOR

Your choice of diamante competition jewellery for your next bodybuilding comp should look to enhance your overall package, but NOT distract any attention away from the physique.

Though we all love a bit of sparkle, remember that this is a physique show, not a jewellery show. The judges are predominantly looking at your physique and your competition jewellery alone does not dictate 1st to 2nd place.
