Avoid Heel Straps Breaking & Why It Happens

One of the queries we sometimes get is straps breaking. This is an issue which can often be easily avoided, and will save you having to replace your shoes quicker than you need to! Read on for our top tips on prolonging the life of your posing shoes, and some of the reasons why this issue occurs!

  • Number one - take care of your shoes! We get it, this sounds really simple, but a lot of the time, especially on show day, we have seen people yanking their straps and being rough when putting their shoes on and off all day. Think of treating your shoes the same way you would your bikini. Take time with putting them on and off and be gentle with the straps always!

  • We go into more extensive detail about how to look after your shoes, bikini and jewellery in this blog here.

  • Make sure your shoes are right for you. The styles of posing shoes come up slightly different and there are ones that will suit different feet, eg. wide, normal and narrow! We have seen this happen more so on a lot of the Lip style shoes, which is the most narrow fitting shoe we stock. If you have wide feet and you have bought a narrow shoe such as the Lip, that’s going to cause excess pressure around the strap area.

  • Is your heel height too high for you? If you pull the straps super tight because you’re not so confident in your shoes the strap will most likely sit higher than it should do, which is again going to cause excess pressure on the strap, especially when your posing and doing transitions with your weight distribution changing! So moral of the story, always avoid doing them any tighter than they need to be!

  • Purchase detachable ankle straps. These are always handy to have just as a back up if you have a posing shoe with straps, and will save you money rather than buying a whole new pair! To change your straps all you have to do is cut off the old ones and slide on the new!

We hope this makes a bit of sense and clears up some of the main reasons we see for straps breaking. Need any more questions answered? Just shoot us a message here.
