How Hair Thickness & Style Could Affect Your Comp Jewellery Choices

Choosing your show day jewellery is super exciting! Ultimately you should choose jewellery that you love and makes you happy. However, we do have some tips to help you make this decision, things we would recommend you to consider before choosing as there are many aspects that come into play to create that perfect look. For example; hairstyle, neck to shoulder measurement, bikini design etc.

So, first of all, you need to sit down & envision look you want to present on stage. Your jewellery may not seem like a big thing but it is those little touches that can complete an overall package. For example, the reason we always ask for the measurement from your ear lobe to your neck is because we want to ensure that we aren’t recommending earrings to you that are going to be too long.

If it is too long then it is going to sit on your collarbone and ruin that top line across your delts that you have worked so hard to achieve. This can then throw off the balance and symmetry of your whole look. Similarly if you have huge bracelets, like a 12 row, but you are a petite bikini girl then this can disrupt the flow of your physique and can almost cut off your look in a harsh abrupt way.

So where does hair come into this?

Short Hair

For short hair we tend to recommend a shorter & smaller earring like the Roxy, Gemma or Laura. The reason we recommend these earrings is so that they aren’t overpowering by looking too big or out of place.

Thick, Wavy or Curly Hair

If you have big hair (or just lots of it) then we often recommend a bigger/wider pair of earrings such as; Kayla, Isa or Zara. If you were to choose something thin or small like the Holly or Gemma earrings then they would essentially get lost within your hair and may not be very noticeable at all.

Thin, Straight Hair

We find that with thin or straight hair a thinner pair of earrings flows nicely. This is because they follow the lines set by the hairstyle and don’t look overpowering. Earrings such as; Harriet, Jenny, Jodie, Phoebe are all great options as they aren’t massively wide so they won’t stick out of your hair or be too distracting.

Head over to our ‘Comp jewellery’ tab, we have the sub-sections curly/wavy hair, straight hair & short hair. Within these pages you will find more of our recommended earrings for each type of hairstyle.

Please remember & we must stress this…the above points are simply our recommendations. They are not the rule when it comes to choosing your jewellery as the only person who can truly decide this is you!
